Individuals sharing living space for one or several nights or spending several hours a day with the index case during the 3 months before the start of treatment of the index case

For this reason, the infectious period for the index case is set somewhat arbitrarily at 3 months before initiation of treatment rather than relying on recall by the index case of the time symptoms began
